Book Review: The Viscount Who Loved Me

Like all good pop-culture fiends, I’m eagerly awaiting the new season of Bridgerton on Netflix – this one based on the second book of Julia Quinn’s series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. I’m sorry to say it’s only recently that I’ve admitted my romance novel addiction publicly, but having said it out loud, I’m excited that this is the first book I’m writing about for the blog. I’ve been a Julia Quinn fan for, well, FOREVER. I probably haven’t read all of her books, but I’m close.

The Bridgerton series is, of course, one of my favorites. And while The Viscount Who Loved Me isn’t my favorite book in the series, it’s very close to the top. (I’m still in the middle of a series re-read, but I expect favorite status to go to Hyacinth’s story. When I finish the full re-read, I’ll put them all in a favorites order).

I did watch the first season of Bridgerton, but at the time I was pretty busy and didn’t have a chance to re-read The Duke and I. And while I enjoyed the show, I’m guessing I would have enjoyed the re-read even more. So when I started seeing all the media hype for the second season, I knew I needed to read the second book before I tuned in. And guessing that I couldn’t stop at just one, I went ahead and downloaded a set of the first three as e-books packaged together. So glad that I did!

I breezed through The Viscount Who Loved Me in just a few days – I would have done it in one sitting if I didn’t have those pesky dogs to walk or dinners to make 🙂 It was just as fun and sexy the fourth or fifth time around as it was the first. If you’re on the fence, do yourself a favor and read the book before watching the show next week. You’ll love it!

And consider buying the stories in bulk – once you read one you’ll be hard-pressed not to immediately start in on the next. I just finished The Viscount Who Loved Me a couple of days ago, and I’m already almost half-way through An Offer from a Gentleman (Benedict and Sophie’s story). Happy reading!
